5 Easy Tips to Make Your Hair Extensions Last Longer
Share
1. Wash Them the Right Way
Just like natural hair, extensions need gentle care. Use a sulfate-free shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner. Avoid washing too often — once every 10–15 wears is usually enough for clip-ins. Over-washing can dry them out.
2. Always Use Heat Protection
If you love styling your extensions with curling irons or straighteners, don’t forget heat protectant spray. High heat can damage the hair cuticle, causing frizz and split ends.
3. Brush Gently
Use a wide-tooth comb or a special extension brush to detangle. Start from the ends and work your way up to avoid pulling or breaking the hair.
4. Store Them Properly
When not in use, keep your extensions in a silk or satin bag or on a hanger. This prevents tangling and keeps them clean.
5. Avoid Sleeping in Them
Unless your extensions are semi-permanent, always remove them before sleeping. Tossing and turning at night can cause unnecessary stress on the hair and shorten their lifespan.
